Wedding Photography at Hotel Emlyn and Cenarth Falls, Wales

Hayley & Kaine | Hotel Emlyn, Wales

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOU:

We are both leakage engineers for the water board. We love spending time with our gorgeous families and making the most of every opportunity that comes our way. My very talented husband makes things out of driftwood so we enjoy walking the local beaches, finding new interesting pieces of wood and imagining what he can make.

THE PROPOSAL:

Kaine proposed to me at the top of a beautiful local castle that we love and is our favourite place in the world. He was acting very strange that day however so I knew something was up! We changed our plan to walk to the top of the castle because it was pouring with rain and after a tasty local breakfast at the lovely Warren Cafe, we continued our plan to ascend the castle. Little did I know at the top he was going to present me with the most beautiful ring in the world! I obviously said yes and could then understand the reason for his peculiar behaviour. That day, we returned to the Warren to organise our engagement party in the Warren to share our special day with our loved ones. We have a ‘love padlock’ at the top of the castle.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THE EMLYN HOTEL AS YOUR VENUE?

We were on our way to see another venue and we happened to call into the Emlyn as they were holding a wedding fair in the newly decorated function room. This was the one - our very short search was over! As soon as we both entered the room we looked at each other with big grins on our faces. It was us down to a T: it had gorgeous oak beams and was painted in a beautiful green/grey colour with exposed stone and reminded us of our home. It had an instant warm, welcome feeling. We had a tour of the venue and spoke with the local church which was very important to me and it all seemed to fall into place from there. We knew there was a beautiful local attraction, Cenarth Falls, just down the road that would be perfect for some photographs (captured incredibly by the amazing Simon).

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIMON BIFFEN TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING?

The wedding photos were one of the most important decisions for me (alongside my dress) as they would be the lasting memories and events of our special day. Both me and my husband hate photos so were dreading this part of the day. I searched and searched and come across Simon and his beautiful portfolio. I mentioned his name to my sister, who was very familiar with him as she had seen his photography before, and I was very impressed. I didn’t hesitate to message him to ask for availability. To our delight, he was available. After a conversation with Simon, we both knew he was the one. Although it was only a phone call, he made us both feel at ease and it was as though we had known him for years.

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT FOR YOUR GUESTS?

A day to remember and to enjoy.

WHAT WERE THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM YOUR DAY?

When my husband’s uncle boycotted the band and sang his own rendition of Queen’s ‘I want to break free’. It’s still being talked about ‘til this day!

ANY TIPS FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

It’s as simple as ‘enjoy the day’. There is so much planning involved up the big day and it goes far too quickly! If something goes wrong or didn’t turn out how you planned it’s all good… no one will know anyway! Sit back for 10 minutes in the evening with your new husband or wife and look around at all your loved ones enjoying and celebrating a day just for you… it’s heartwarming!
