Winter Wedding in Scotland
Now here’s a wedding that oozes style, class and good times! Hollie and Johny’s winter wedding day in Glasgow was one I’ll never forget. The cathedral wedding ceremony and celebration at Duntreath Castle was the perfect combination. I had good friend and awesome wedding photographer Richard Skins second shooting with me on this occasion and his style and approach blended perfectly with my own.
It was such a pleasure to capture a day with so much laughter! From preparations right through to the silliness on the dance floor, we were treated to an abundance of merriment and wedding guests having the best time. Hollie looked breathtaking in her Lee Grebenau wedding dress.
Glasgow Cathedral Wedding
Glasgow Cathedral is an awesome sight to behold and it was incredible to be able to shoot the ceremony amidst such elegant architecture. This is the oldest building in Glasgow being built before the Reformation from the late 12th century onwards. It is a wonderful example of Scottish Gothic style. The entrance of the bride down the long nave is epic, giving a great sense of anticipation to those waiting to catch a first glimpse.
We were blessed with some unexpected winter sun on completion of the marriage as the newlyweds emerged jubilantly through confetti before driving off in style.
Duntreath Castle Wedding Celebrations
As it was a freezing cold day it turned the reception venue, Duntreath Castle, into an ice kingdom, but the warmth inside the beautifully styled marquee (and perhaps a little alcohol) meant that everyone soon thawed out and got cracking with the celebrations.
One of the things I loved about being a Duntreath Castle wedding photographer is its incredible location. With views over to Ben Lomond you can be sure of an epic backdrop for wedding photos. The famous gardens are nestled among 20 acres which include ornamental lakes, herbaceous borders and a bog garden. I was able to take Hollie and Johny off for some couple time and captured moments that show what their relationship is really like. I don’t pose couples, I let them be themselves. Chatting, playing games and feeling like you’re just hanging out is the goal!
Using a wedding photography style throughout the day to capture the real moments is important to me. I look to photograph the emotion, action and atmosphere of a wedding day. You can relax and just enjoy every minute!
A Scottish wedding near to Burns Night wouldn’t be complete without an ode to the haggis! Such a great tradition that had everyone whopping and cheering for! And don’t miss Hollie and Johny’s first dance and the surprise dance that the bride did with her girls later on.
