Maunsel House Wedding Venue
Maunsel House, Somerset
An Exclusive Somerset Wedding Venue
Maunsel House is a 13th-century stately manor house set in the heart of Somerset. It has a magnificent driveway leading to the main house, which is set in over 100 acres of parkland. With a rich history this a wedding venue that will take your breath away. There is also an abundance of animals from peacocks to ponies to encounter, a large private lake, and a stunning walled garden.
Inside the house get ready to be amazed as Sir Benjamin Slade’s vast collections make themselves known in every room. The bar is well stocked, not just a wide variety of alcohol but with historical weaponry and all manner of strange and curious antiquities, a spark for many conversations! The Regency Ballroom is the perfect place for indoor civil ceremonies and dining.
I’ll be honest, Maunsel House is one of my favourite wedding venues in Somerset. Perhaps it is because I got married here myself back in 2010! It gets better every time I go back.
Every couple that chooses to get married at this fabulous country house tells me some of the same reasons that we chose it. Firstly, you get to take over the whole house and accompanying cottages which enables many of your friends and family to stay on-site, meaning the partying can keep going into the night! Secondly, it is one of the rare places where you can get married outside legally.
Wedding Photography at Maunsel House
As a Maunsel House wedding photographer I enjoy the opportunities that are here for creating wonderful images. With so many places to explore, from the rustic cobbled courtyard to pretty meadows and orchards, you can find an interesting backdrop around every corner. The acres of stunning parkland make you feel like you are in your own private paradise.
Using a natural wedding photography approach I aim to tell the story of a wedding day by focusing on what it felt like. I capture genuine moments, without posing. This means that you don’t need to worry about the camera and can just relax and enjoy your day.
Tying the Knot at Maunsel House
Getting ready for your wedding here may see you in the glorious King’s Room or the stately Lady Slade suite. One of the stand out features of Maunsel weddings is that you can do everything outside: get married, have your canapés and drinks reception and eat your wedding breakfast! There are very few locations that can offer all three of these things.
The beautiful bandstand provides a place for a legal wedding ceremony and the pergola in the walled garden has space for 220 seated guests. It’s a great feature that there is also the ability to have the sides down and heaters on if it gets a little cold! The wet weather option for both ceremony and eating is in the elegant main dining room.
St Michael’s church is located just a stone’s throw away and holds the title of one of England’s smallest churches! Great for an intimate wedding ceremony.
