Springtime Almonry Barn Wedding Photography

Charlotte & Adam | Almonry Barn, Somerset

Wedding Photography at The Almonry Barn

You are in for a treat with this wedding! Charlotte and Adam chose the romantic setting of the Almonry Barn on the Somerset Levels to hold their wedding. It was, without doubt, a day for the emotions to run as free as the champagne! Couples trust me to capture real feelings and atmosphere which in turn allows me to document the story playing out in front on me. I don’t pose, get in the way or make anyone say ‘cheese’.

I blend in and make people feel as though I am just another guest. I photograph in a way that doesn’t impose, such as during the exchange of vows and rings (which I shoot silently so as not to distract). Ultimately, it is about finding the genuine and honest moments that make a wedding day unique. The small moments that happen in an instant, which immortalised in a photograph, take on a much bigger meaning afterwards. If you’d like to find out more about how I shoot weddings and why I think it is important to do so in a documentary way, head over to my about page.

Finding good light is always on a photographer’s mind and with a stunning golden sunset to have some fun in the evening, it was a short trip in my car with the newlyweds to enjoy the last of the sun’s rays by the river! We arrived back to carry on the party in the Almonry Barn which has the bar located close to the dance floor, great if you don’t want to miss your favourite song! You can hear directly from Charlotte and Adam about their day below the slideshow:

“We feel incredibly lucky having been able to book Simon to capture our wedding! I knew that he was the right photographer for us after seeing his photos and reading about how he works. Our photos are STUNNING, we are over the moon with them!!

They are a true representation of us as a couple because he allowed us to be ourselves. One of my favourite moments of the day was when he drove us away from the venue for twenty minutes. We were lucky enough to have that ‘golden hour light’ and the photos are just dreamy! It was fun, natural and at times we completely forgot he was there.

1. TELL US MORE ABOUT YOU:

I work as Cabin Manager and Crew Training Instructor, Adam is a Building Contractor. We love making amazing memories and being happy, what more could you ask for?! Our spare time usually involves being outside with our loveable cockapoo, Winston. Also planning our next adventure, getaway or ski trip.

2. THE PROPOSAL: WHAT’S THE STORY?

The proposal was in Port Douglas, Australia. We took an evening stroll down to the end of a boardwalk one evening where it overlooked a beautiful view of the ocean. He pulled out his wallet, gave me a penny and told me to make a wish. When it was his turn he took a ring and got down on one knee.

3. WHAT MADE THE ALMONRY BARN THE PERFECT VENUE CHOICE FOR YOU?

We were looking for a romantic venue that was tucked away in the countryside. We didnʼt want anything too big so we could always see our family and friends around us. We fell in love with the barns rustic elegance and history. We pictured ourselves saying our vows there so we knew it was the one.

4. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIMON BIFFEN TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING?

Because heʼs amazing! His photos look relaxed and capture all the beautiful moments naturally. He was incredible on the day and just felt like one of the guests. Our photo shoot was so fun and involved absolutely no posing! We were just ourselves, whilst he worked his magic… We are obsessed with our photos.

5. WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT FOR YOUR GUESTS?

We imagined a relaxed and informal day, we wanted our guests to enjoy the venue and have a great party in the evening!

6. WHAT WERE THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM YOUR DAY?

So many to choose from, but one of our favourite moments was in the evening when Simon drove us to where we overlooked the venue and watched the sunset. We felt completely alone in that moment, we had a chance to breathe and take in what an amazing day it had been.

7. ANY TIPS FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Stick to what you envisioned and donʼt get too caught up in the small details. Take some time out of your day for the two of you to stop and take it all in. Youʼve done all the hard work and planning, make sure you enjoy your day even if some details donʼt go to plan.

AWESOME SUPPLIERS ON THE DAY:

Venue: Almonry Barn | Bride’s Dress: Made With Love | Groom’s Suit: Ted Baker | Flowers: Amber Persia | Cake: Baking Chick

Makeup: By Annabella | Hair: Lips and Locks | Videographer: AH-Videos | DJ: Hybrd Entertainment | Caterers: Pickle Shack

“Simon is attentive, thoughtful, organised and ridiculously talented! He captured all the beautiful moments with our guests we weren’t able to see during the day. He blended in and was an absolute pleasure to have there. He even went that extra mile when the wedding party forgot their buttonholes and took them to the venue for us! (Also giving me advice about my rings for the ceremony) it’s all the little things… Simon, thank you! When we look at those photos we remember exactly how we felt in that moment and that, is a gift!”
