Pennard House Wedding Venue, Somerset

Pennard House is one of those venues I always love returning to. It has that rare ability to feel both effortlessly stylish and completely relaxed, which makes such a difference to how a wedding day unfolds. From the moment you arrive, there’s a real sense that you can settle in and enjoy it all. The main house feels warm and welcoming, more like a home from home than a formal venue, which helps everyone relax into the day right from the start. As a Pennard House wedding photographer, it’s a venue I know well and one that offers so much, not just in terms of beautiful spaces, but in the way it allows your day to flow naturally.

Why get married at Pennard House?

Set in the Somerset countryside near Shepton Mallet, Pennard House is a beautiful Georgian manor house with a rich sense of history and character. The house dates back to the 18th century and sits within lovely private grounds, giving you an exclusive and intimate setting for your wedding.

One of the things I love most about Pennard House weddings is the choice it gives couples. You can marry indoors in the house for up to 95 guests, say your vows outside on the lawn with up to 120 guests, or head to the beautiful All Saints’ church just a short walk away for a more traditional ceremony.

The addition of the new conservatory space is a brilliant update to the venue. Filled with natural light and opening beautifully onto the grounds, it gives even more flexibility for your day, whether that’s for your ceremony, drinks reception, or simply another gorgeous space for guests to enjoy. It works especially well for the British weather, keeping that light and airy feel even if the heavens open.

After the ceremony, drinks on the terrace always create a lovely atmosphere, and the Coach House is a fantastic setting for the wedding breakfast, speeches and party afterwards. Upstairs has such a great feel for dinner and speeches, while downstairs really comes to life once the music starts. In the warmer months, the tipis on the top meadow are always a hit too, giving guests the chance to stay over and make even more of the celebrations.

Pennard House wedding photography

From a photography point of view, Pennard is one of my favourite Somerset venues. The grounds offer so much variety without ever needing to take you far away from your guests. From the terrace and lawns to the lake, the drive, the gardens and the ornamental pond just across the road, there are so many beautiful backdrops for natural couple portraits and those in-between moments that tell the real story of the day.

Golden hour here is often particularly special, especially around the grounds and meadow field above the house catching those last rays of light. The new conservatory offers another lovely option for light-filled, candid photographs throughout the day.

My approach is always relaxed and documentary in style. I want you to fully experience your wedding while I quietly capture the atmosphere, the emotion and the connection between you and everyone there. Because I know the venue well, I know how to blend into the day effortlessly without it feeling like a photoshoot. Experience photographing here helps me know where to find those ideal photo locations around the venue.

A team that makes everything effortless

The team at Pennard House are always exceptional and it’s one of the reasons it’s such a pleasure to work here. Everything runs smoothly, the spaces are beautifully looked after and there’s always a calm, friendly atmosphere throughout the day. That makes a huge difference not only to your experience, but to the photographs too.
