Summer wedding photography at Pennard Hill Farm, Somerset

Sophie & Sam // Pennard Hill Farm

Sophie and Sam’s summer wedding at Pennard Hill Farm had that easy, laid back feel that suits the venue so well. Set on the hills just outside Glastonbury, Pennard Hill Farm is known as a relaxed Somerset wedding venue with big views, open skies and spaces that work brilliantly for outdoor ceremonies and sociable receptions. The farm itself has become a favourite for couples who want something informal but still beautifully run, with views that stretch right across the countryside and, on a clear day, over the famous Glastonbury Festival site. I must say I was excited for this wedding as it was my first time here and I wasn't disappointed, as you'll see from the pictures it was an absolutely epic day. I really loved being Sophie and Sam's wedding photographer at Pennard Hill Farm!

The couple were lucky enough to have a gorgeous outside wedding ceremony, held in the garden behind the Golden Fleece cottage, where the bridal party had got ready in the morning. There is often a peak of emotion at the start of the wedding ceremony, just before the couple join together (I certainly remember nearly being overwhelmed when I saw my wife Francesca coming down the the aisle on our wedding day!) and Sam needed a second to gather himself, which showed how much it meant to him. By the time they were walking back down the aisle the sense of joy was obvious with huge smiles from both of them.

Afterwards everyone gathered for reception drinks while taking in those expansive views, chatting and soaking up the sunshine. Groom, Sam is an awesome musician (check out his work here at Samuel Jack, he is an incredibly talented singer songwriter,) so music was always going to play a big part in the day. Step forward The Enrichments who were a perfect choice to keep the celebrations going well into the night. Sophie’s exquisite dress was by Caroline Castigliano and it suited her relaxed elegance perfectly. Beautiful bouquets and flowers in the tipi were by Isabloom adding colour without overpowering the space. Ada Films captured the whole day on film. This was a super fun, sunny Somerset wedding that felt unique to the couple, and had a vibe that was perfect for the setting at Pennard Hill Farm. I can’t wait to return to photograph another wedding at Pennard Hill Farm later this year!
