Roscarrock Farm | Cornwall Wedding Photographer
Jo & Dave | Roscarrock Farm, Cornwall
“Simon you legend! Wedding photographer extraordinaire! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve gone back and had “just another look” at our incredible wedding photos - you’ve captured the whole vibe of our day brilliantly. Thank you! p.s thanks for putting up with me wanting to clamber onto drift wood and run into the sea!!”
I had so much fun being the photographer for Jo and Dave’s epic wedding at Roscarrock Farm in Cornwall. It appears at first glance to be a hot Summer’s day, in fact in was April, that’s Cornwall for you! These guys are old friends of mine so it was lovely to be a part of the day in an official capacity, but then be able to loosen up in the evening and party long into the night with everyone! Dive in to see the highlights reel below then hear from the couple themselves!

Without further ado here’s some background from Jo and Dave to set the scene before a few of my favourite frames from the day:
WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO? WHAT’S IMPORTANT IN LIFE TO YOU? HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?
We spend winters in the French Alps, I work for a luxury chalet company and Dave works for a transfer company and when we’re back in Bristol Dave has his own business converting vans into camper vans. Dave’s answer to the second question is “my lovely wife” ...ha! Sensible answer to that one. The snow and the sea is what influences our year and free time. Skiing, snowboarding, windsurfing and surfing… getting outdoors as much as possible.
THE PROPOSAL: HOW DID IT GO DOWN?
Very apt for the question above… at the top of a snowy mountain in Whistler! I had a vibe it might happen on that holiday but was not expecting it to happen on the first day! After a tearful “yes”, I think it’s pretty much the one and only time Dave has managed to render me speechless! A drink at the Fairmont Hotel is our Whistler treat so we had bubbles by the fire there and then an amazing dinner in town.
WHAT MADE ROSCARROCK FARM THE PERFECT WEDDING VENUE FOR YOU?
One of the most important things we wanted from a venue was to pick one that didn’t feel like a “wedding factory”... with a handful of weddings each year, a great price including accommodation for the days before and after the wedding, close to Daymer Bay, you could still see the sea and also Robert, Kate and Philip Sloman. Nothing ever seemed too much - from the day we sat down in their farmhouse with a cup of tea talking plans to the tidy up the day after, they were always incredibly warm, helpful and kind.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIMON TO CAPTURE YOUR WEDDING?
“Biff” was always going to be asked to be our wedding photographer! A friend of Dave’s from uni, with a wedding photography style we loved - and no posing during the couple shoot! Instead it’s all about having fun, you forget that there is a camera there and you end up with really relaxed, natural photographs.
WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT FOR YOUR WEDDING GUESTS?
Relaxed and fun… and the toffee vodka apologises again for the sheer number of very sore heads the next morning! With Robert, Kate and Philip letting us party until the early hours of the morning, it meant the party could keep going until (most) people were ready to leave!
ANY TIPS FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Do a ski season and return to the UK 10 days before the big day!? Keep things simple, stick to what you want, if you have a vision of your day you can make it happen and ... delegate!
