Wedding photography at Pueblo Acantilado, El Campello, Spain

Joy & Rich | Pueblo Acantilado, Spain

Here is a rather epic wedding indeed! Sun and sangria a plenty and a wedding party to end all parties.

Great friends of mine, Joy and Rich, finally tied the knot in sunny Spain last June after a bit of delay due to various lockdowns and restrictions, but it was worth the wait and wow what a celebration it ended up being! Like many of my friends who have got married, I felt honoured that they wanted me to shoot their day and we decided to make the whole trip out to Spain into a much needed family holiday at the same time.

The venue is situated on clifftops near El Campello. Pueblo Acantilado is a picturesque collection of apartments and suites with an amphitheatre at its centre, where the wedding ceremony was held. I covered the guys and girls getting ready to start things off. As you’ll see Joy has the brightest of smiles and with her Irish roots she is one of the most welcoming and friendly people I know. Rich is laid-back, generous and a kind-hearted guy; he and the chaps opted for a very cool and light attire, perfectly suited to the 30 degree climate.

With the ceremony full of personal touches and led by their friend, they were given a rapturous applause and welcome into married life. Drinks were on the terrace accompanied by live music and the soon there were singalongs and dancing. I took Joy and Rich for a walk around the venue for some couple photos (never posed, always real) and then we headed into the welcome air-conditioned wedding breakfast with incredible sea views where speeches, singing, more dancing led us into a party where everyone just went for it!

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this Spanish wedding. It’s not often I get to shoot destination weddings, but I love the change of scene and I’m still doing what I do: telling a story and letting the day just flow.

Getting married? Like what you see? Get in touch! I’d love to hear your plans smile
