Same-Sex Wedding: The English Rose and The Danish Daisy

Rosie and Sisse // Screveton, Nottinghamshire

On a beautiful June day in Screveton, Nottinghamshire, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Rosie and Sisse held outdoors in the grounds of Rosie’s family home. The weather was perfect, with a clear blue sky meaning suncream and sunglasses would be required today!

Rosie and Sisse both looked absolutely stunning on their wedding day. Both brides were beaming with happiness as they exchanged vows and rings during a very personal ceremony led by Rosie’s sister Hannah.

The drinks reception and first speeches followed, held in the orchard. Rosie’s and Sisse’s gorgeous whippet came to join in the celebrations at various points and was doted on something silly. Guests had travelled from across the country and Europe and all had a marvellous time being treated to fine food and excellent wine, and it was clear that Rosie and Sisse were surrounded by love. It was also a joy to take the couple off for some time out before and after the meal to capture some moments that reflected their personalities and relationship.

During the wedding breakfast a fun Danish tradition of guests banging their tables with knives and forks meant the couple had to kiss standing on chairs, and if they stamp their feet it’s a kiss under the table! A belter of a party went long into the night and ended with the traditional Danish wedding waltz just before midnight.

I’m so grateful that I was able to capture this special day for Rosie and Sisse. It was a real honour to be a part of their wedding, and I wish them all the best in their future together.

Kind words from Rosie:

I couldn’t recommend Simon more! He took the most beautiful pictures of our wedding day, which we will cherish for a life time. It was lovely having quiet moments with just my wife and him whilst he took pictures, it gave my wife and I space and time to just enjoy the day together - and made for the most wonderful, natural looking pictures. The guests all adored him too - he was professional and fun and I’m so glad we had him as our photographer.
