Autumn wedding photography at The Clock Barn, Hampshire

Susannah & Alistair // The Clock Barn

Weddings at The Clock Barn, Hampshire

It was a delight to photograph and film Susannah and Alistair’s wedding at The Clock Barn in Hampshire. It was my first visit to this charming and iconic venue. The Clock itself is was constructed in 1953 in honour of the Queen Elizabeth’s coronation and now stands as a proud reminder. The 19th century barn has been lovingly reimagined into a wedding space perfect for celebrating in. Looking at it with the eye of a wedding photographer, The Clock Barn has a lot to love about it! For a lot of converted barns they can sometimes be quite dark inside and I was pleasantly surprised at how much light filled the main barn. There is great versatility in the range of spaces inside the main Clock Barn with the adjacent Stable Room which can be used for chilling out or holding smaller ceremonies in and there is an area perfect for dancing in later on.

I have known Alistair for a number of years as he is a talented wedding videographer (check out Alistair’s website here) and has shot weddings alongside me so I was delighted he wanted me to capture his own wedding day the Clock Barn! Alongside the photos I also captured a highlight film (this is a new service I now offer and here you can find out more about my hybrid wedding photography) I find doing both a creative challenge but it is very rewarding!

Preparations and Ceremony at The Clock Barn

The day started with the girls getting ready in the Stable in the capable hands of hairstylist Sian Erskine and makeup artist Ashley Charlotte Odey. The boys busied themselves with last minute jobs along with figuring out how best to put on a bow tie (tip: find the one guys that knows how to do it and make him do them all!). The civil ceremony took place in the main barn it was wonderful to see Susannah walk down the aisle in her Wed2Be dress with both her Dad and Mum. Some traditional elements of weddings can be rather out-dated and I love it when couples want to do things their own way. The newlyweds were welcomed outside after the marriage to the confetti tunnel and Best Man Alex replicated what had been done to him on his wedding day by Alistair and dumped the remaining basket of confetti over him. Even stevens 😊

An Autumn Clock Barn Wedding Reception

Wedding reception drinks outside the Clock Barn followed and I had groups to organise, the couple shoot to do, room shots to get before guests were seated and the guests themselves! There’s always a lot to do at this point in the day and with some pesky rain showers, I had to make the most of breaks in the weather, but got there in the end! Florist Ivy and Wild did a fab job providing magical colour with fresh cuts from the bouquets to decor.

With speeches and eating all completed a window of evening sunlight gave the couple a chance to grab a few more moments together out the Clock Barn before heading in for the evening entertainment provided by Ceilidh Tree. Always a winner if you want to get as many people up and involved as possible, a ceilidh never fails to get the heart racing and people laughing.

A perfect example of how to celebrate your wedding at The Clock Barn, Hampshire

This wedding at Clock Barn was a blustery barnstormer of a day where the sun shone, the rain gave us good luck (because a wet knot is indeed a tighter knot - always look on the bright side if it rains on your wedding day!) and an energetic evening finished things off! Alistair and Susannah will cherish this day and I hope my wedding photographs and film help them remember it. Check out some highlight wedding photos below.
