Black Tie Wedding in Watford with Tropical Party Vibes

Charlotte & Alex | Watford Wedding

“Simon was absolutely amazing at our wedding! Everything was so natural and captured without it feeling forced or unnatural! His unique way of capturing couple shots we really liked as we got some amazing photos which really feel like they’re true to us as a couple and really represent our relationship together! We opted to have a second photographer, of which Simon organised. He also fitted in brilliantly with Simon’s style and what we had wanted. Simon feels more like a guest than a photographer, fitting in with the vibe and the atmosphere of the wedding with your friends and family. We’ve had so many comments about how amazing our photos are and we would most definitely recommend him.”

1. TELL US MORE ABOUT YOU BOTH

We both have busy and demanding jobs - Alex in sales as an account manager, and Charlotte as a fashion buyer. We both have a keen interest in sport, and love to be active! Holidays are one of our favourite things, especially when we get to travel with friends and family.

2. THE PROPOSAL: HOW DID IT HAPPEN, WHAT’S THE STORY?

Dubai is one of our special places that we visit quite often, and after 8 years of waiting (!), one evening it happened on the beach at sunset! We’re not a romantic couple at all so this was pretty out there! We then went together the next day to design the ring which was a really fun process and it was ready the next day.

3. WHAT MADE ALEX’S FAMILY HOME THE PERFECT VENUE CHOICE FOR YOU?

We absolutely love marquee weddings at family homes as it just always makes the wedding feel so much more personal to the couple. We really liked the idea of being able to have a blank canvas and design every detail to make it really reflect us as a couple - pineapples aplenty!!

4. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIMON BIFFEN TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING?

One of my best friends had Simon as her photographer at her wedding. I was a bridesmaid and felt really comfortable whilst Simon was taking pictures. We really liked his style so it was an easy decision for us really!

5. WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT FOR YOUR GUESTS?

A really fun and quirky tropical party was our goal! Decor, music and tasty (not fancy) food are big things for us and we wanted everyone to just have a fab time!

6. WHAT WERE THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM YOUR DAY?

We loved being able to drive off in the Mercedes G-Wagon and then have some of our official pics with it! The speeches were all absolutely incredible, and the dancing and MC’ing were big highlights!

7. ANY TIPS FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Try to keep it unique to you rather than just following a Pinterest board. We got so many comments on how ‘real’ our wedding felt and just how different it was! Also don’t just go things to be ‘crowd pleasers’ - it’s your wedding - do what you want and love!!
