Jubilant Jewish wedding in Manchester

Hannah & Harley // Midland Hotel Manchester

Here we have Hannah and Harley’s sublime Jewish wedding at The Midland Hotel, Manchester. I’ve shot a few Jewish weddings in the past and I really enjoy seeing how the ceremonial parts and celebrations come together to make for one amazing event. I had my good pal John Hope second shooting with me on this one and it was great to have another viewpoint during some of the more hectic and action packed scenes, particularly on the dance floor! Talking of which, the band Muzika provided non-stop entertainment from the start of the wedding breakfast right through the night, this meant that once a course was finished and a speech was complete, it was time to burn off a few more calories!

With morning preparations completed the bridal party prepared themselves for the beddeken ceremony, whilst the chaps next door held their Tisch for Harley, celebrating and singing with gusto before coming over for the veiling of the bride. Here tradition dictates the bride and groom see each other for the first time and then the grooms veils the bride. This is a lovely moment to witness a very special part of the Jewish wedding. After this the two groups made their way over to the chuppah for the wedding ceremony. Upon entering the Hannah walked around the Harley seven times in an act of symbolism to create a new family circle. The ring exchanges, vows and blessings followed with the final act off breaking the glass accompanied by cheers of “Mazel tov!” and the couple were now officially married!

What an entrance they made to wedding breakfast! The room went wild with excitement and the guys and girls moved into two groups for the Hora dance with it’s ever increasing circles and speeds with the newlyweds in the centre! It was wonderful to see the energy and love that Hannah and Harley received from friends and family and with Hannah’s speech rounding off the meal, it led perfectly into the first dance and plenty more action for us to capture! I really enjoyed this Jewish wedding in Manchester and I hope you like browsing through this selection of their day.
