Hannah & Jon | Surrey Wedding

I had the best time photographing Hannah and Jon’s wedding in the Surrey hills on one of the hottest days of the Summer! With the idyllic setting at Jon’s family home and a crowd who couldn’t wait to party and celebrate their marriage, it was non-stop action from start to finish with the boys cooling off in the lake in the morning to singalong craziness with Michael G Moore‘s talent on the piano!

Check out just a few of my favourite frames here and if you’d like to see more you can watch the epic slideshow of their day here. But now over to Hannah and Jon for a little more info about them and their day…

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU…

We first met on PWC graduate training - Jon went on to work in Private Equity and Hannah in finance at a luxury online fashion. Jon loves golf, Hannah yoga – it works really well at weekends – Jon will tee off early while Hannah is at yoga, which leaves the rest of the weekend to enjoy our free time trying new restaurants in our local area and meeting friends. We have recently moved out of London to Taplow – more space, countryside walks and amazing restaurants nearby.

THE PROPOSAL: HOW DID IT HAPPEN, WHAT IS THE STORY?

After recently completing on our new house, it was a complete surprise on a Friday after work in summer 2017- we met in London Bridge where Hannah works on the pretence that Jon had finished work early and wanted to have a drink on the river. After which, Jon came up with the ‘idea’ to get the Thames Clipper to Battersea home as it was a lovely day. None the wiser I thought it was just a nice evening going out to dinner, but stopped at my favourite bridge in London – Albert bridge - and walked to Battersea Park where Jon got down on one knee! Completely by surprise, and Jon had booked a lovely restaurant that night and invited friends a family for a bbq the day after. We got married exactly 12 months after to the day.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE JON’S FAMILY HOME AS YOUR VENUE?

We were incredibly lucky that Jon’s parents have such a beautiful space and they were really happy to let us hold the wedding there- in the sunshine there is no where better for an outside venue in England- a really traditional English country garden theme. It is unique with the view and surrounding fields and lakes, and completely private so the party could go on as long for as we wanted!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIMON BIFFEN TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING?

Simon was recommended to us through a friend of a friend who has used him the year before and we loved the idea of non-posy, non formal photos for our day. Simon was exactly that and really friendly and blended right in with our day.

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT FOR YOUR GUESTS?

In the day we wanted an English country garden- smart but still relaxed, lots of wild & English flowers, lots of places to sit or explore. Michael Moore provided the music throughout and made the perfect atmosphere with live ukulele following by piano and DJ post dinner. For evening we wanted an amazing celebration… Lots of alcohol, dancing and food! We had fire pits lit with lots of fairy lights in the marquee to transform the set up at night.

WHAT WERE THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM YOUR DAY?

Coming out of the church just married, seeing all of our friends and family before jumping in the vintage Bentley to the reception. The first sip of champagne after months of planning was the first time of relaxing fully into the day! Also, our wedding breakfast with Michael Moore playing throughout dinner- everyone was ready for dancing the moment desert was finished!

ANY TIPS FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Plan the venue (& church), catering, photographer & music and flowers as early as possible – all the rest fits in to place around that and can be enjoyed at a slower pace.
